Microsoft has become the new leader in tablet technology and has revolutionized the desktop computer. But they’re looking to go even further by creating a versatile $1,000 laptop that can be used in any environment, and it’s got Apple’s attention.
Having renounced their bad reputation, the tech company recently introduced its new Surface Laptop, an affordable 1.25 kg touchscreen device with an impressive startup time and prolonged battery life. Microsoft is looking to replace the abundance of MacBooks used in higher education, daring to test its resistance to being put into a bag repeatedly.
Although the firm’s designers had to go through many different versions of the computer over several years before they achieved the most ideal results, they’re more than satisfied with how the product turned out, and hope that their target audience will be, too.
The laptop’s fourteen-hour battery life, ideal for busy students and freelance workers, was made possible by creating a large but lightweight battery and testing it over a twenty-four-hour period. For a stylish and comfortable keyboard, the company used the suede-like microfiber Alcantara in a wide range of colours. Microsoft also opted for keyboard sound emittance instead of the typical speaker system, which functions with the same high quality.
The Surface comes complete with the Windows 10 S, an updated version of the Windows 10 Pro. Users can choose to install the Windows 10 Pro onto their new computers, but that decision is permanent on the new interface.
Microsoft will officially release its new device on June 15, commencement day for most US college students. It may struggle to outdo Apple’s MacBook models, however, due to their ability to connect to iPhones and transfer information in a matter of minutes.
Despite any difficulties the company may come across, Microsoft is optimistic about its new product, confident that it can be a laptop for anyone, no matter how tech-savvy they are.
